How To Repair A Cockatiels Sprain Leg
- #ane
Skillful evening, guys.
About 20 minutes ago, Tully was just sabbatum on her cage door, singing away, She then tried to wing over to me and crash landed on the floor.
I immediately rushed over to her to see how she is and she cannot put any weight on her correct leg. I must stress she'southward not in any pain, she's not bothered by it at all. She'southward saturday with me at present having cuddles, having a preen only I've given her leg a thorough examination and there is no brusing, she hasn't screeched at all in pain only it's but very limp. She wants to use it merely she's struggling to grip anything and is putting all her weight on the other leg.
She tin motility around but as you tin can imagine, she's hobbling, not walking as she unremarkably would. I've lowered all perches and nutrient bowls in her muzzle incase she struggles, I've also put a soft towel in the bottom incase she loses her grip. Upon reading almost it, it does seem like she's sprained it, not cleaved information technology.
My primary problem is my local avian vet has recently closed down and the next closet 1 is in the next metropolis which is miles away and so taking her at that place is going to be extremely difficult.
Whatever advice/ideas would be appreciated.
Give thanks you.

It won't bruise correct away, could take few hours. Could be a sprain, or a fracture..non a compound fracture,,yous would definitely see that! Is the foot hot, or cold? Hot usually ways small fracture or sprain...common cold unremarkably means a break...but watch her for the adjacent few hours..just because y'all examined the leg, dosent mean it wont be college up into the hip/ pelvic expanse.., hope shes ok!

I hope her leg feels ameliorate before long! You just might have to make the trip to that other vet if in that location isn't any good comeback. Proceed usa posted on how she is doing!

It won't bruise right away, could take few hours. Could be a sprain, or a fracture..not a compound fracture,,you would definitely see that! Is the foot hot, or cold? Hot usually ways modest fracture or sprain...cold commonly means a break...simply watch her for the side by side few hours..merely because you lot examined the leg, dosent mean it wont exist higher up into the hip/ pelvic area.., hope shes ok!
Her pes is warm, like when you hurt a finger or something and it gets warm.
I put her in to see her manoeuvrability and she can perch fine, she can motility around her cage only she's absolutely reluctant to put weight on that foot at the moment. Like I said, she wants to apply it but it'southward simply limp. 1 ascertainment is that she tin can move her toes somewhat merely that'south about it.
For now I've got her out with me once more just to effort and comfort her and other than the foot, she'due south fine.

Continue to monitor her. If you do not meet any improvement then a vet visit is in society. Don't await too long, though.

A number of things could have happened, including dislocation of her hip. At the very to the lowest degree she needs some pain meds. I know y'all said it would be difficult to get to a vet but that's really, really what should happen.
For right now you need to put her in an enclosure where she tin can't climb and hazard further injury, a big articulate tote would work great, you can put towels on the lesser and just place the food and water bowls on the floor of it so she tin reach them hands

She absolutely is in pain, there is no injury that would cause a foot to exist unusable that would not be painful. Birds don't express pain the way we would expect, because it would make them vulnerable to predators in the wild. Instead they act like everything is fine and endure silently. She is depending on you lot to become her the medical care she needs, equally others take said.
